Farmhouse Fixer Fun(?)

My family and I live in a rather old (circa 1880) farmhouse that is in a fairly constant state of renovation. Since we’ve lived here (going on sixteen years) ⬆︎this⬆︎ wallpaper has adorned our upstairs hallway. I managed to scrape a good bit of it over the years, knowing we’d be replacing it with paint eventually. But my short stature got the better of me in the stairwell until we rigged up a scaffold this past week.

It was so nice to get the wallpaper off and get the new color on. It’s hard to tell in these pictures, but the color is a very pale gray. The name of it is North Star by Sherwin Williams and it’s perfect. Just being in the space now calms me. 😌

We also replaced the old, decrepit light fixture with a new one and I absolutely love it! It uses one of those Edison style bulbs and I think it really complements the space. 😄

As you can see, we still have a good bit of work to do. New trim needs to go up around the doors and windows and eventually new baseboard will follow. I stained the woodwork today in hopes we can get it up over the weekend.

Once that’s done, new flooring, handrail, and balusters will be next on the home repair agenda. But seeing this project underway has made me very happy…and kept my mind off of the start of school, which was a much needed escape, especially this year.

When we dig in again, I will keep you posted. One of these days I hope to be able to share true before and after pictures that are a little more impressive than these in-progress pics. But I promise to keep you posted.

What about you? Did you complete any home projects over the summer? If so, I’d love to hear about them!
